Auto repair business filling up old dealership space in Barrington

An automotive repair business plans to move into 495 W. Northwest Hwy. in Barrington, filling a space vacant for more than a decade since the building was occupied by Champion Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealership.

The Barrington village board this week unanimously approved the request for a special use permit for A & A Automotive Co., which plans to offer services such as oil changes, tire repairs, auto inspections, computer diagnostics and wheel alignments.

The facility with 5,221 square feet of space will have six service bays, a small lobby and a storage area. All auto services will take place inside; no work or storage will be permitted outside or in the parking lot.

"I am happy that ... people are investing into our community," Village President Karen Darch said.

The building also includes Dawson Construction and Xscape in Time, both of which moved there in recent years after the Champion Doge Chrysler Jeep dealership closed in late 2008.
